He has also jumped across the Corinth Canal in Greece and the done a backflip while jumping the Tower Bridge in London, but he admitted he was terrified something would go wrong.

'I had a sickening feeling that this might be the one that kills me,' Maddison said, according to MTV.

Maddison said he had dreamed of pulling off the surfing stunt for years, after he got the idea watching his wife Amy Sanders wakeboarding.

He added that he has been a keen surfer since he was eight years old and his understanding of waves was key to pulling off the stunt

'I fantasised putting skis on a bike and riding on water. It was a stupid vision at the time, but I kept toying with it, playing with designs and concepts, and eventually it became a reality,' he told Surfer Magazine

He added that he has been a keen surfer since he was eight years old and his understanding of waves was key to pulling off the daring stunt.

'Honestly, the whole way I imagined I needed to ride the wave on my bike was wrong, but after watching some footage, with my knowledge of surfing I realised I had to adjust to be up on the face of the wave—and I’m comfortable being there because I spent the majority of my life dropping in on the face of waves,' he said.
He said at first he thought it was a 'stupid vision', but he kept playing with designs and concepts and eventually it became a reality

The video was filmed in Tahiti, an island in the Pacific Ocean in French Polynesia, at both Teahupoo and Papara.

In the video, Maddison can be seen riding past other surfers, paddleboarders and canoers while dressed in full motocross gear

'If I hadn’t been a surfer at heart, I couldn’t have pulled it off.'

The video was produced by Maddison's sponsor, DC Shoes.

DC Shoes executive Jeff Taylor said it was one of the most ambitious projects the company has ever tried to produce.

'Robbie is equally as visionary as he is talented on a dirt bike and we're happy to have enabled him to truly defy convention,' Mr Taylor said.

The video showing the stunt is titled 'Pipe Dream', and was produced by Maddison's sponsor DC Shoes

Maddison said he got the idea watching his wife Amy Sanders wakeboarding, and had dreamed of pulling off the surfing stunt for years

Maddison, from Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales, worked as a stunt double for Daniel Craig in Skyfall
